Welcome to the HitShow
Is it self-involved American-ism if I believe that even through all the bullshit we endure on the regular most people still want to be American? I mean, how many ways can Hollywood be duplicated around the world and still not come close to the real thing? Internet start-ups were literally born in America. Jeff Bezos is our king; Netflix is our kingdom. We sip our Starbucks and munch our fries while plugged into Mark Zuckerberg’s fantasy robot land.
Yes, at times we cringe at the super-villains we created and let loose on society…. but that is not strictly an American problem… am I right North Korea, Russia, China, Iran, etc.? The delightful part of our crazy is the fact that you can’t look away. You love to love usssss, you are hooked on the USA reality show and its your guilty pleasure. Its not funny all the time, its heartbreaking and raw very often, but its real. unscripted.
The real value of the USA show is the artistic expression, its progressive, in your face and uncensored. While some of our art may seem “PC” at times, we weave a delicate balance of mocking the privileged while still letting them know we care about them as humans. Let me tell you its not easy being petty but its oh so entertaining. My favorite aspect of American Culture is after any… ANY… serious political event or speech there are thousands of creators online developing tear-inducing viewpoints in the form of comedy, song, murals and stories.
The truth is, we aren’t blind to the world around us but we are fed so many opinions and told how to think the best way to process everything is to creatively turn our reality into a viral meme or unique protest slogan and shove it back in your face.
This country will be simply fine. Yea there are a lot of storms and turbulent seas, the people are fed up most of the time… but that’s only because we know, WE KNOW we can be better. Unfortunately, we have painfully slow internet speeds in the form of mindful awakenings, acceptance of cultural differences and policy changes to match the energy of the 21st Century. We built this America with all kinds of material and some of the construction process was sloppy and with NOT great craftsmanship… a lot of exposed brick…. but it’s generally a really photogenic piece of empire #nofilter.
