Sandy is an over thinker, drinker and fairly outrageous stinker. When her best friends moved all around the world, she decided to capture her thoughts in text… and let me tell you, it gets pretty weird.

There are times when I look at all the negative traits of Man. Man in the giant sense of man, the human in its behavior attitude and ethics. When I think of the dark side of humanity, I see a ferret faced shyster, bent on getting rich, hungry for success and too ambitious to follow the natural laws of decency. I think of cigar chomping giants in double breasted jackets laughing in smoky rooms about the puppies they kicked on the way in from their limousine to the club. I think of dirty commies stroking their big gaudy cats ordering more factories and smaller cafeteria portions for the workers. I think of the know-it-all and blasé smugness that permeates from a generation of silver spoon cool-kids who seem to pervade our internet streams. Mostly I think of the times we are mean, whether by being unkind, uncaring or ugly to the other humans around us, it can be kind of a disease something that can spread in a room quickly like a yawn.

You know what I think is adorable? Yawns. I don’t know if I have ever noticed or observed humans catching a yawn from a cat or dog…. but I have definitely seen a pack of humans catching yawns from each other. Lemme tell you. I LOVE IT. I love it when people make a small scream at the end of their yawn also. Or when human bodies stretch mid-yawn and shake all over??? When did we get this cute?!!!

You know what else is delightfully sweet? When humans stare at the moon. It is especially darling when they say to another person, “Look at the moon!” or “The moon looks cool tonight.” Same with sunrises, sunsets, stargazing, looking for shapes in the clouds or just admiring the big blue sky. Looking up and thinking about the beauty of beyond… maybe it’s a testament to good eyesight but I think its super sugary sweet when we get fascinated by vistas.

So, this is interesting, as someone who has always loved to observe people and personalities… I have only recently begun to reflect on the nice little things we do juxtaposed next to the big ugly bad things. I have learned that I can literally talk about cute human things all day and if anyone wants to plan that day with me… IM SO DOWN; but for now, I will just list a few of my favorite lovely human traits:

1)      Primping- if you take out the economics and sinister social pressure of getting ready, the fact that we brush our hair and polish our teeth, soften our skin and pick out little color coordinated outfits for our funny little limbs? It’s precious, we like being cute! what is cuter than that?

2)      Drawing- how amusing are we with imagination and art? The act of doodling, putting mind to pen and pen to paper….no matter what comes out is so cool. When the drawing is beautiful there is a little bit more discipline to get it there but the concept of thought-to-hand idea transference is still the same and I find it really freaking awesome.

3)      Music- OhKAY there are multiple ways we are so stinking beautiful but being musical is by far the greatest and most fascinating trait of humanity. Yes, birds are musical, but US?!! HUMANS??!! We take our little voices and our make-believe languages and assemble words and sounds that make people feel something! We start movements, riots, festivals, we excite, calm, and soothe ourselves with music. We use our minds to control our bodies to make a melody. We appreciate and cherish; we dance without thinking we sing without regard, and we love songs so much they stay in our minds for most of our lives. I can’t think of anything more beautifuler than that.

4)      Horoscopes- I know not everyone buys horoscopes but most of us consider the universe and spirituality and try to extrapolate messages or meaning in one way or another. I think I just find it especially endearing when humans are curious to learn about themselves and their subconscious. I mean therapy is expensive and sometimes a horoscope reading gives you hope or even courage when you can’t afford a diagnosis. Also, I like when people say it’s their season, and they blame their annoying habits on their astrology sign. It allows me to categorize my friends and make cuts. For example, there is only room for one Gemini in my life… they know who they are.

5)      Hugs- OMG. So, this will be my last one because I wasn’t lying… I could go on forever about the adorableness of man…BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT HUGGING?? Like… let me gently press my body against yours for warmth, comfort, compassion, sympathy, romance, familiarity and introduction. We pat, hold, rub, squeeze and sometimes lift each other. There are no restrictions on who hugs whom. Parents, kids, strangers, crushes, pets, besties, bros, acquaintances, trees, inanimate objects…. they can all get it. The time length of hugs can fluctuate based on relationship, need, feeling or just the stronger hugger… at the core of it, hugs are sweet… I like that. Whether we enjoy them all the time? I’m sure that changes with our moods, but who are we without our little adorable moods?

we even emote so cute…… ughhhhh okay. no I’m done, hugging was my last one. I love us :)
